Design your engagement ring from Saudi Arabia with personal specialist guidance, competitive Dubai pricing and fully insured international delivery.
Customers throughout Saudi Arabia can design and purchase a Fergus James engagement ring remotely, with personal support from a dedicated diamond specialist and fully insured delivery directly to their address.
The entire process can be completed through WhatsApp, email or video consultation. From selecting the diamond and approving the CAD design to production, certification and delivery, customers do not need to travel to Dubai unless they would prefer to visit the showroom or collect their ring personally.
Why Dubai
Why Do Customers in Saudi Arabia
Buy Jewellery From Dubai?
Dubai is one of the world's leading diamond-trading centres, providing access to an extensive international supply of natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds and coloured gemstones.
Its close proximity to Saudi Arabia also makes Fergus James a convenient option for customers in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Khobar and throughout the Kingdom.
Buying through Fergus James gives KSA customers access to:
- Natural and lab-grown diamonds
- GIA and IGI certification
- Competitive Dubai pricing
- A personal diamond specialist
- Complimentary bespoke design
- CAD approval before production
- Unlimited complimentary CAD revisions
- Jewellery handcrafted in Dubai
- Fast production
- Fully insured delivery to Saudi Arabia
- Lifetime warranty and ongoing aftercare
Fergus James does not charge an additional bespoke-design fee. Customers can adapt an existing design or create an entirely original piece while working within their chosen budget.
Pricing & Taxes
Are Diamond Rings Less Expensive
in Dubai Than Saudi Arabia?
They can be, although every comparison should be made on a like-for-like basis.
Diamond prices depend on:
- Natural or lab-grown origin
- Carat weight
- Diamond shape
- Cut and visual performance
- Colour
- Clarity
- Certification
- Millimetre dimensions
- Fluorescence
- International availability
The setting price also depends on its gold or platinum weight, construction, side diamonds, craftsmanship and design complexity.
Dubai's international diamond supply allows Fergus James to compare suitable stones across a broad market. The company also avoids the substantial brand premium associated with some large luxury houses.
However, the cheapest quotation is not always the best value. Customers should compare the quality and weight of the setting, certification, craftsmanship, warranty and aftercare—not only the stated diamond size.
Fergus James focuses on providing strong overall value rather than producing the cheapest possible ring. Diamond specialists reject stones with poor visual performance, undesirable tint, milkiness, distracting inclusions or weak measurements, even when the certificate appears acceptable.
Pricing & Taxes
Are Saudi VAT and Customs Charges Payable?
Jewellery shipped from Dubai to Saudi Arabia may be subject to Saudi import VAT, customs duty and customs-clearance requirements.
Saudi Arabia's standard VAT rate is currently 15%, but the final amount payable can depend on the shipment, declared value, product classification and current customs regulations.
Fergus James explains the expected delivery costs, taxes and duties within the customer's quotation so that the anticipated delivered price is clear before the order is confirmed. The required commercial invoice, diamond-certification information and shipping documents are prepared for the shipment.
Process
How Does the Remote Buying Process Work?
The complete engagement-ring process can be managed remotely from Saudi Arabia.
Step 1
Share Your Idea
Contact Fergus James through WhatsApp, email, video consultation, the website enquiry form or the Upload Your Dream Design service.
Useful information includes:
- Reference images
- Preferred ring style
- Natural or lab-grown preference
- Diamond shape
- Approximate carat weight
- Metal colour
- Ring size
- Budget
- Engraving requirements
- Required completion date
It is not necessary to know every detail. A Fergus James specialist can explain the options and help develop the design.
Step 2
Complimentary Consultation
The initial consultation is complimentary.
Your diamond specialist will discuss the design, budget and diamond requirements. Fergus James offers both natural and lab-grown diamonds and does not pressure customers towards either option.
The objective is to find the best-looking diamond and highest-quality finished ring available within the chosen budget.
Step 3
Diamond Sourcing & Comparison
Fergus James searches its international diamond supply to identify suitable options.
Saudi customers can receive:
- HD diamond videos
- Side-by-side comparisons
- Diamond measurements
- Grading-report copies
- Explanations of the specifications
- Guidance on cut, colour and clarity
- A personal recommendation from the specialist
Every diamond is evaluated individually. The grading certificate is important, but it does not reveal every aspect of the diamond's real-life appearance.
Fergus James specialists also assess:
- Sparkle and light performance
- Eye-visible inclusions
- Milkiness or haziness
- Brown, green, grey or blue nuance
- Bow-tie visibility in elongated shapes
- Face-up size
- Proportions
- Overall beauty and value
Step 4
Complete Quotation & Deposit
The customer receives a complete quotation covering the selected diamond, ring setting, metal, CAD design, production and applicable delivery costs.
A 20% deposit is required to secure the chosen diamond and begin the CAD design. The remaining 80% is paid at collection or before the ring is dispatched to Saudi Arabia.
Supported payment methods can include:
- Credit card
- Bank transfer
- Cash for eligible showroom payments
- Cryptocurrency
- Tabby or Tamara, subject to their applicable limits, fees and approval terms
- An agreed internal staged-payment arrangement, with the ring released once fully paid
Available payment methods and currencies should be confirmed with the specialist when ordering.
Step 5
CAD Design & Unlimited Revisions
A detailed CAD design is prepared before production.
The CAD allows the customer to review:
- Multiple viewing angles
- Ring dimensions
- Band width
- Setting height
- Prong placement
- Diamond position
- Metal colour
- Engraving
- Overall proportions
Unlimited complimentary CAD revisions are included. Production begins only after the customer approves the design.
Changes may still be possible before the ring has been cast. Requests made after casting may cause additional costs or delays.
Step 6
Dubai Production & Quality Control
Every Fergus James ring is handcrafted in the Dubai workshop.
Production normally takes approximately 7–14 days after the diamond and final CAD design have been approved. Complimentary fast-tracking may be possible when the required materials and workshop schedule allow.
Once the ring is finished, it undergoes quality-control checks. The customer's diamond specialist then sends a real-life video of the completed jewellery before collection or international dispatch.
Step 7
Insured Delivery to Saudi Arabia
The finished ring is sent using fully insured international DHL Express delivery.
The company remains responsible for the shipment until it reaches the customer's specified delivery address. Tracking details are provided after dispatch.
The customer may need to supply identification, address or customs-clearance information when requested by the courier or Saudi customs authorities.
Delivery timing depends on the destination, customs processing and any required customer documentation. Your specialist will provide the expected schedule before dispatch.
Certification
Are Fergus James Diamonds Certified?
Fergus James normally provides:
- A GIA grading report for an individual natural diamond of 0.30ct or more
- An IGI grading report for an individual lab-grown diamond of 0.30ct or more
- An IGI report for qualifying coloured gemstones of 0.30ct or more
- An optional IGI jewellery report for eligible completed pieces
- Clear disclosure of any certification exceptions before purchase
The grading report is sent to the customer before the diamond is confirmed. Report numbers can be independently checked through the official GIA or IGI website.
Certified diamonds of 0.30ct or more are normally laser-inscribed with the report number. Fergus James checks the inscription against the certificate during its receiving and quality-control procedures.
The original grading report is supplied with the completed ring.
Diamonds
Should I Choose a Natural or Lab-Grown Diamond?
Natural and lab-grown diamonds have essentially the same chemical, physical and optical properties. The difference is their origin, availability and price.
Customers often choose a natural diamond because of its geological formation, rarity, history, romance or tradition.
Customers often choose a lab-grown diamond because it allows them to purchase a larger stone or higher colour and clarity specifications for a substantially lower initial price.
Approximately 80% of current Fergus James engagement-ring customers choose lab-grown diamonds, although both options remain available.
Neither type should automatically be treated as a guaranteed financial investment. The right option depends on the customer's priorities, budget and personal preference.
Personalisation
Can Fergus James Create Arabic Designs and Engravings?
Yes. Fergus James can incorporate Arabic names, initials, dates, phrases and personalised details into suitable jewellery designs.
Customers should provide the exact Arabic wording they want used. Fergus James will create a CAD or digital design for approval before production, but the customer remains responsible for confirming that the spelling and artwork are correct.
Arabic personalisation can be incorporated into:
- Engagement rings
- Wedding bands
- Pendants
- Name necklaces
- Letter pendants
- Bracelets
- Cufflinks
- Men's jewellery
- Bespoke gifts
Complimentary engraving is available where the jewellery design has sufficient suitable space.
Sizing
What if I Do Not Know the Correct Ring Size?
For a surprise proposal, Fergus James can estimate the ring size using:
- A photograph of the recipient's hand
- Height and approximate build
- An existing ring
- A photograph of a ring beside a ruler
- Information from friends or family
- Fergus James's internal sizing process
Customers should explain which finger an existing ring is worn on, as the size can differ between fingers and hands.
Eligible rings can be resized after the proposal. Full eternity rings generally cannot be resized conventionally and may need to be remade, so accurate sizing is especially important for these designs.
AfterCare
What Warranty and Aftercare Are Included?
Eligible Fergus James jewellery includes a lifetime warranty covering manufacturing and workmanship defects.
Aftercare may include:
- Professional cleaning
- Setting inspection
- Prong inspection and re-tipping
- Rhodium replating for white gold
- Eligible resizing
- Repairs relating to covered manufacturing defects
- Ongoing maintenance
The warranty does not normally cover:
- Loss or theft
- Accidental damage
- Damage caused by impact
- Misuse
- Normal wear and tear
- Work completed by another jeweller
- Loss of a centre diamond caused by accidental damage
Saudi customers can contact their original salesperson or the Fergus James customer-service team for aftercare assistance. The team will advise whether the jewellery should be returned to the Dubai workshop and explain the insured shipping process where applicable.
Valuable jewellery should also be added to an appropriate home-contents or specialist jewellery-insurance policy. Fergus James can provide an insurance valuation upon request.
Returns
Can Orders From Saudi Arabia Be Returned?
Fergus James offers a 30-day returns policy, subject to the conditions stated in the current returns policy.
Customers should review the policy before ordering, particularly when purchasing personalised, engraved, resized or bespoke jewellery. The diamond specialist can explain how the policy applies to the proposed order before the deposit is paid.
