Princess Cut
Diamond Rings
The Princess cut diamond engagement ring has a connection to mother-nature that no other diamond shape can claim to have. When diamonds are created naturally they form into rough diamonds that have the same outline shape as a princess cut diamond. The princess cut diamonds close connection to the shape of a natural rough diamond was the inspiration behind the Fergus James Princess cut diamond ring collection. The Princess cut diamond works superbly with simple elegant settings, as well as being versatile enough for a variety of halo and trilogy designs.

Focus on Dimensions
Check the actual mm length and width dimensions (noted on the diamond certificate) of the Marquise diamond not just the carat weight. A well cut 0.9ct Marquise shape will have better dimensions, and look bigger, than many 1ct Marquise cut diamonds. This helps to maximize visual impact and reduce the cost.
Clarity Matters with Princess
With Asscher cut diamonds try and select ones with VS1 clarity or better to ensure that the diamond is eye clean.
Colour is Important
Asscher cut diamonds are in short supply - contact the Fergus James team so we can work for you with traders who don't list their diamonds online sellers. This will help you get the best option at the best price.

PRINCESS CUT ENGAGEMENT RINGS
Because of the perfectly flat edges of a princess shape diamond, trilliant side stone diamonds work particularly will with the princess cut diamond. Princess shaped diamonds are the least expensive diamond rings when we look at the cost per carat because of the efficiency with which they can be cut from a naturally formed rough diamond. No-one has been able to truly explain why rough diamonds take on the outlined princess shape when being formed under immense levels of heat and pressure. Other diamond shapes, such as oval, emerald, round, pear and cushion cut diamonds, are less efficient to cut from rough diamonds and therefore more expensive. The square uniformity, and brilliant cut, are the main attractions of princess shaped diamond. Emily Ratajkowski’s square shaped dazzler was recently worked with a pear shape in one of the most original rings ever created. Her choice of a 4 carat pear placed next to a 3ct princess was unusual but a stroke of genius. The bold simplicity, along with the daring of placing two large diamonds together, well and truly paid off. The architectural uniformity of the princess, set in juxtaposition to the teardrop elegance of the pear created an unlikely diamond shape symbiosis.
